Our Pastors
Ron Risse
Ron and Duanne Risse were both raised in Southeast Wisconsin and got married in 1963. After coming to faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, they felt the Lord calling them to the Mission Field. They spent 38 years reaching the tribal people of West Kalimantan, Indonesia through discipleship and church planting; a ministry which they are still involved in. Ron and Duanne moved back to Wisconsin in 2013, and Ron has been the Pastor at Emmaus since that time.

Our History
Emmaus Bible Church began as a home Bible Study in 1973. This group of people, like the Disciples on the road to Emmaus, felt the truth of God’s Word burning in their hearts. They soon adopted the name “Emmaus Bible Church” and purchased a building in West Bend.
In 1974 they began holding regular church services with Tom Schmidt as their pastor, and in 1976 the congregation relocated to their current building on South 6th Street. This gave them enough space to start an Awana Club for children. Reverend James Taylor served the growing congregation for 24 years, and in 2013 former New Tribes Missionary, Ron Risse, became their pastor.
The truth of God’s word still burns in the hearts of the members of Emmaus Bible Church, as they put Christ into hearts, in the heart of West Bend.

What We Believe.
(A complete doctrinal statement is available upon request.)
The Bible
We believe the Bible to be the word of God, the final authority for all faith and practice, verbally inspired and without error in the original writings. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21
God
We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1, 1:26, 1:31; John 1:1-18; John 14:26; 2 Corinthians 13:14
Jesus Christ
We believe that He is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; that He became man to die for the sins of the whole world; that His death on the cross was substitutionary and voluntary; that He was raised from the dead and ascended back to heaven and that He is coming again. Matthew 1:23; 1 Timothy 1:15; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 1 Thessalonians 4:17
Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Person who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and of judgement, and that He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing those who believe into the Body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them until the day of redemption. 1 John 16:7-11; 1 Corinthians 12: 12-14; Titus 3:4-6; Ephesians 1:13-14
Man
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, and that through Adam's sin, inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God. Man is totally depraved and utterly unable to remedy his lost condition in and of himself. Genesis 1:26, 27; Romans 3:22, 23; 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3:12
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace. It is received by personal faith in the substitutionary death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. No resolutions, works, efforts, or submission to rules or regulations of any kind can supplement the redemptive work of Christ. It is only the merit of His finished work that provides our justification. The moment we put our total trust in the resurrected Jesus Christ and His finished work on Calvary, we receive Him as our Savior and are "born again" by the Holy Spirit. Romans 3:19-28, 4:4-5, 5:6-9; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 1:18,19; John 5:24, 17:23; Acts 13:39; Romans 5:1; Ephesians 4:2-10,13; 1 John 4:17, 5:11, 2 Corinthians 5:17
Eternal Security
We believe that born again persons are unable to lose their salvation since they are kept by God's power and therefore secure in Christ forever. John 6:27-30, 10:27-30; Romans 8:1, 38, 39; 1 Corinthians 1:4-8; Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 Peter 1:5
